You just can't Terra me away from "Terra Mediterranean"! Read all about my midday visit to the Mediterranean.

Not many things are better than that moment when you realize you’ve just discovered one of your new favorite restaurants! You know the feeling well, it’s the moment when everything clicks; The service, the food, the ambiance. This moment happened for me during my visit to Terra Mediterranean in Irving. Not only was the food top notch, the service was neck-and-neck.

Located on N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving, Terra transports North Texas diners to the Mediterranean. From the starter or “Mezza” to the last bite you’re sure to start planning your next trip! Opened by the Chanaa brothers in Dallas in the early 90s, Terra Mediterranean has become an iconic stop for foodies hungry for fresh, healthy cuisine.

The menu ranges from freshly prepared hummus, salads and moussaka to gyros, saffron chicken, as well as an array of meat and fish kabobs. During the day, the crowd-pleasing lunch buffet is loaded with traditional Mediterranean favorites while dinner features specialty items such as grilled sea bass, lamb chops, and oven-roasted trout. The combination of quality meats and seafood, fresh produce, legumes, olive oils, whole grains, and bold spices create authentic flavors that are distinctly delicious.

For our Mezza we started with a true Mediterranean staple, Hummus. Served with the softest pita this was a hard dish to share! Word to the wise, if you favor spice ask for a side of chili to mix in! We also opted for my personal favorite, vegetarian Grape Leaves. These petite green leaf burritos are stuffed with a mixture of rice and spices, boiled or steamed then served. Dipped in Terra’s fresh tzatziki sauce, these alone could have been my meal.
For our entrees we wanted to stick to the classics. We opted for Saffron Chicken and, of course, the Gyro! OMChicken! The Saffron Chicken literally left me speechless! Made up of sautΓ©ed chicken & mushrooms in a creamy curry sauce & saffron rice, this dish is the perfect companion for a fresh serving of warm pita. The chicken tender and chocked-full of flavor it’s “saff” to say this plate will leave you speechless too. Another must-try at any Mediterranean restaurant is the Gyro. Terra doesn’t cut corners here either. Upholding their commitment to freshness and quality the Gyro entree delivers Terra’s message on one simple, perfect plate. Not to mention the best lamb I’ve found in Dallas.

About Terra Mediterranean:

The Chanaa brothers, Adam and Jalal, first hit the Dallas restaurant scene in the early 90’s, opening their first Ali Baba Mediterranean Grill concept on Lower Greenville. They quickly expanded to three locations and 20 years later, Ali Baba is still an iconic stop for locals and tourists alike. The restaurants have won numerous awards, but most importantly, the favor of local consumers who appreciate fresh, healthy and flavorful Mediterranean cuisine. Terra Mediterranean is the Channa brothers newest Mediterranean concept in Ft. Worth at West 7th.  www.terramedgrill.com
