McKinney Ave. has a new brunch destination!
Next Door, an exciting new-ish food and nightlife destination, is now serving brunch! Dallasites now have a new place to eat brunch, drink mimosas (or the new “Coconut Water Mojito”) and enjoy themselves! Next Door is an intricately designed restaurant and bar from the group behind Avenu Lounge and Landmark Bar & Kitchen in Fort Worth. Featuring delicious food, craft drinks, and in indoor/outdoor space, Next Door is a prime destination for dinner, cocktails and late-night fun.
And now . . . a kick-ass BRUNCH!
Downstairs Dining Room
Interior highlights include gorgeous tufted banquettes and a warmly lit bar with vinyl records and spirits bottles displayed in harmony. Leading guests to the second level is a two-story art installation featuring hundreds of door knockers.
Knock, knock. Who’s there? BRUNCH!
Upstairs you will find a lively, ambient lounge with old school speakers covering the walls. Next Door’s second floor patio offers an intimate, al fresco setting with string lights, lush green ivy walls and prime views of bustling McKinney Avenue.
The best news of the year was finding out one of my choice Uptown spots now does brunch. Keeping with tradition my OG
Next Door date, Christina of Basic Brunches
, and I headed to scope this new menu out!
Coconut Water Mojito
We started the brunch off with a cocktail from their accompanying brunch cocktail offerings. The “Coconut Water Mojito”, concocted of Captain Morgan White, mint, strawberry, mint, coconut water, mint and mint, this cocktail is minty! Aside from the handfuls of mint – this cocktail is refreshing.

After experiencing Next Door’s phenom lunch
I knew their brunch would live up to my now high
expectations. It did. We started with the Smoked Salmon Sandwich
which despite its crunchy exterior was divine. While it was a little too salty for my taste I’m confident salmonions will flock to Next Door for this brunch sammy. From there we tried the Chorizo & Quail Egg Pizza
– one thing we learned from Next Door’s lunch: they can bake a mean
pizza pie! Their pizza game didn’t stop at lunch though, this new brunch pie is delish and our second favorite “brish” (brunch + dish) of the afternoon! After the carbs we were ready to “eat thin” so we sampled The Skinny Omelet
. With farm eggs, asparagus, goat cheese, tomato, roasted red peppers + pesto – this was enveloped in flavor, specifically the goat cheese. This omelet is for those brunchers that are actually sticking to their resolutions still. Now, the next dish we had was hands down the most popular (and a 180 from the skinny omelet
), hence the name: Best F*cking Stuffed French Toast
Stuffed with cream cheese, the cinnamon-raisin toast is pancake battered and topped with fresh berry compote, maple syrup + whipped cream. Holy shit!
This plate literally stayed on the table for the remainder of the meal – we were not letting it go back with one maple dusted crumb remaining – and we didn’t. Each melt-in-your-mouth bite was a shot of Ecstasy into my brunch-loving soul.
Steak & Eggs
Steak & Eggs
The Steak & Eggs obvi’ deserves its own section to bask in its #YolkPorn glory
! Filet mignon, sunny-side up egg, hash browns, red wine-roaster garlic sauce make up this beefy brunchy dish.
Like your neighbor, Next Door’s there when you knock! Whether you want kick ass brunch, a damn good cocktail or a night out overlooking McKinney Ave until 2am-it’s all here.
hungry Next Door, Dallas.
