Casual American dining spot located in the heart of North Texas Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom, owned by national conglomerate CraftWorks Restaurants, celebrated its first birthday in Dallas since its opening on Dec. 8, 2014 in Mockingbird Station. To commemorate the benchmark, the Colorado-based restaurant located a short walk away from Southern Methodist University (SMU) threw a birthday bash on Friday Dec. 11 and hosted a Media Luncheon on Sunday Dec. 13.

The famous pizza and beer joint had its first birthday party on Friday Dec. 11 at its Mockingbird Station location to spread the birthday cheer with all its loyal customers. Besides the delicious menu items and the exceptional service, the celebration offered with live music, giveaways and other surprises. The Preston Cole Band kicked things off with its country classics while guests enjoyed delicious dishes such as the Chicago 7 Calzone and the Meat Me Pizza, along with new menu items including the popular Sicilian Pepperoni Rolls and the Warm Cinnamon Rolls. Customers also had a chance to try the restaurant’s wintery brews, including Blue Moon’s Gingerbread Spiced Ale and Martin House’s Pretzel Stout, available for a limited time only.

PEPPERED BACON SMOTHERED CHEESE FRIES-Seasoned fries smothered in beer cheese sauce with peppered bacon pieces, cheddar, garlic sauce, sour cream and diced tomatoes. Topped with green onions.

“We have been serving handcrafted pizzas, made from scratch, every day since 1976. That is expertise you can taste, and definitely quality our customers value,” states Sr. Marketing Manager Gretchen Sherlock of Old Chicago’s standards.

MEDITERRANEAN FARMER-Spinach, sundried tomatoes, red onions, artichoke hearts, red peppers and goat cheese over basil oil, garnished with parsley.

But Old Chicago has a lot more to celebrate than just its first anniversary in Dallas. The pizza and taproom chain is rapidly expanding all over Texas, starting with its first Houston location in Katy, which opened October 2015. The Craft Beer Authority will also be bringing its delicious pizza pies and wide selection of craft beers to Ft. Worth, with the opening of its Presidio location in late January 2016.

“Texas has been an amazing market for us, which is why we are exponentially growing through the region,” Sherlock declares. “Besides our Ft. Worth location opening early next year, we are planning on opening four new restaurants in 2016.”

The Craft Beer Authority also hosted a Media Appreciation Luncheon, as a thank you to all bloggers and media outlets who have supported the restaurant these last months. With an all-inclusive menu, the lunch also featured a special surprise from the newest “It” bakery in town, Tricias Treats, along with a personalized cupcake for each guest.
